MS 150

On the weekend of April 16th I rode 180 miles from Houston to Austin in the BP MS 150 for my grandma.

From Left:  My cousin, aunt, me, and my grandma.

My Grandma

My senior year of college my grandma went to the hospital after suffering from an unending, intolerable migraine.  After testing for meningitis, staff infection, etc. she was released.  Eventually my grandma was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.  MS is a disease of many unanswered questions.  The cause is uncertain, the symptoms misdiagnosed, and the cure unknown.

I am lucky enough to have a very close relationship with all of my grandparents.  In fact from first grade until middle school I lived next door to my grandma and grandpa.  I spent a lot of my younger years running down the tree-line to their house.

For those of you who don’t know my grandma, she is beautiful lady with a love of animals, farm life, and teddy bear collections.  Both my grandma and grandpa have been endlessly encouraging in all of my life endeavors.   I only hope that I can work as hard and honestly as they have their entire life.

From pigtails and pink leggings to rings and a white dress my grandma has played a huge role in my life.  My grandparents made my entire wedding  possible.  They opened up their beautiful farm so that I could get married.  From creating a cottage garden full of flowers for the pictures to putting on the blue garter that my grandma wore when she married my grandpa, my grandma made my wedding day just as special as I could have hoped for.

So on April 16th I will get on my bike and ride the 180 miles to Austin to show my grandma how important she has been to my life and to let her know that I continue to support her in any way that I can regardless of how many miles are now between us.

What You Can Do

I want to personally thank all of you that have taken the time to read about how MS has affected my family.  Please help educate others and support finding answers to the many questions left unanswered about the disease.  I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your support!

*Together my husband and I raised over $2,000 for MS research on our MS 150 ride.**
