Sitting out the SuperBowl

Uncategorized

Well…absolutely no teams that I care about made it to the Super Bowl.  I dislike the Steelers and am just neutral towards the Packers.  I might just sit out the Super Bowl this year and spend my time being more productive!

As the games became more depressing to watch more tequila was ordered.  We watched the first game at a new bar called The Distillery.  It is a nice, simple sports bars with A LOT of TVs.  I ordered the sliders (unpictured) and they were okay.  Not life changing, but only $5.

After the Bears game we moved onto a little dive bar near our friend’s new townhome.  When I go out on the weekends I try to keep a rough drink calorie estimate in my head.  Basically I like to eat a lot, so if I am going to go overboard with calories I would rather them be in the form of solid food.  Not that I always follow that logic.  Especially after a few shots.  Anyway, I know that I had had a frozen screwdriver, margarita (on the rocks), Strongbow (in a bottle!), and shot at our first bar.  Once we hit the second bar I was pleased to find they had Budweiser Select 55.  This is a nice way to enjoy a beer with friends and not go overboard.

This sign was in the bar.  It is either really fun or really sad depending on how you look at it.  My husband and I then proceeded to loose at darts.

We got home and were starving!  Besides it being past our usual dinnertime being tipsy always seems to make me hungry!  The closest thing I could find to drunk food was some Cheddar Rice cakes.  The hubby and I laughed and made a “You know you live with a healthy living blogger when….” joke.

We popped a BBQ Chicken pizza into the oven and snacked on some crackers and Laughing Cow (again funny drunk food snackage).  I ended up eating 3 slices of the pizza!!  I like this pizza but for some reason it is just not as satisfying as pizza with a nice thick doughy crust.

I also made us  side salads.  I figure eating a salad equals out all the alcohol and refined carbs. Right?

And to end our weekend we enjoyed dessert!  Amazingly I haven’t had dessert all week so we got Sweet Lola fro-yo.  I tried their new berry flavor and was impressed at always!

I also enjoyed a couple of these Anna’s Chocolate Mint Thin Cookies. These are a really thin, crisp cookie that tastes like a girl scout thin mint!

Needless to say I woke up this morning feeling less than stellar.  I rarely ever drink or stuff my belly so full right before bed so I woke this morning needing water and a good workout!

It was raining so I hopped on my stationary bike, drank down a bottle of water, then enjoyed a nice big Green Monster for breakfast!

Time to start the week and do all my homework before class!

P.S. Purdue dominated in true GameDay fashion!

Produce Again

Uncategorized

I love having produce again!  The fridge is full of berries, apples, spinach, salad, mushrooms…etc.  Needless to say all of my snacks have been berry bowls and all my meals have contained fruit or greens or both.

Lunch was a GIANT green monster and toasted sandwich thin with my dwindling sweet potato butter.  I snacked on some chocolate covered pretzels after this to calm the sweet tooth.

Dinner was a wrap packed full of red pepper hummus and veggies.  I had an apple on the side–sliced with cinnamon.  I also ended up stealing some of Jordan’s chips and salsa (I cannot resist chips and salsa…ever)

After dinner we attempted a missed Insanity workout.  We made it through the warm-up and then FAIL.  We gave up and decided to go to bed before 9.  What can I say, Mondays are rough.

See you tomorrow!

Trucking On

Uncategorized

Excuse my blinding white leg.  Trooper helped me study for a little bit yesterday.  He got bored and eventually moved to the bed.

Apparently Trooper thinks that he is a cat.  He is in the middle of our big window sill…about to fall off.

Nothing much is happening around here besides me studying.  Yesterday in order to procrastinate the hubby and I watched a Cops episode from Houston circa 1987.  It was awesome.

This morning I got up and did a quick HIIT on the stationary bike and then a kickboxing workout that was playing on FIT TV.  After nearly finishing the bag of pita chips in 4 days I decided to assess my finals eating.  I dug out our scale and it wasn’t pretty.  My stomach issues have returned and I have about as much energy as a sloth.  Wake-up call to me.  Eating everything in sight does nothing for my stress levels and drains my energy.

Started my morning with a GM and huge bottle of water.  Drinking a big thing of water in the morning always makes me feel better.  Since I am visual person and love my calendars I got out my calendar and wrote down my weight and measurements today.  I think it is important to pay a little more attention to my body and how it reacts now that I am not training.  We shall see how it goes and if I remember to actually check my progress every week.

Study time folks!  (I caved and made some coffee–this is a bad habit I know I need to kick, but studying pre-trial procedure at 7am requires caffeine help).

How do you get yourself and body back on track?  Anyone else drink a huge thing of water first thing in the morning too?

Texas, I love your coffee

Uncategorized

After a quick segment from Core Fusion-Total Body Sculpt, I brewed up some joe to start off this study-week-from-hell.  Let me just say…this coffee must be magical.  The entire apartment instantly smelled of heaven.  The hubby and I ran to Central Market yesterday to restock coffee and tried a new flavor:  Taste of Texas. I may not love a lot of things about Texas, but I sure do love this coffee!

GMIAB anyone?  I cut back the liquid a bit and added some ground flax to make my green monster in a bowl this morning.  It was kind of fun.

*I apologize ahead of time for all the terrible photos this week but if you can’t tell I am eating all my meals at my desk underneath my desk light.

*I also apologize if I go MIA at some point this week and next week.  My finals start a week from today and I have one every other day.  If you don’t hear from me by 12th or so it means I didn’t survive.

Happy Monday all!  Share something fun you did this weekend so I can live vicariously through people that have lives.

Are you Green?

Uncategorized

My morning started at about 5:20 (dang it for me hitting snooze!) with Level 2.  Followed this with a GM and half a toasted english muffin (this gotten eaten before the camera came out).

I am now going to work on Martial Property law (possibly while spinning) and then embark on Professional Responsibility, the course not the task.

Some other bloggers are talking challenges too, so here is a little peak:

As you can tell I made a green smoothie this morning.  I also walk to school every day (which is unheard of in Houston-people get in their cars to drive 5 blocks, no joke).

What are you doing to celebrate Earth Day?  Actual holiday is April 22nd.

It is Monday Again

Uncategorized

Time is flying folks.  And I would really appreciate it slowing down a bit so I could actually pass my finals.  A girl can dream.

Return of the Green Monster.  Jordan picked me up a huge thing of organic spinach this weekend, so I am enjoying a nice refreshing breakfast.

CF’s Classic GM

1/2 frozen banana

1/2 cup frozen berries

ice-couple handfuls

1 scoop vanilla protein

1 cup Silk (or milk)

fresh spinach

dash of vanilla extract and cinnamon

Put ice, frozen banana, and berries into blender.  In your cup put 1 scoop protein and 1 cup Silk.  Mix together with spoon to help get rid of lumps.  Add in dash of vanilla extract.  In blender, add in fresh spinach until almost reaches the top.  Sprinkle on cinnamon and pour protein mix over spinach.  Blend until smooth.  May need to add a little bit of water if it isn’t blending well.

Enjoy!

Off to study!  Hoping to get in some form of workout today!

Anyone else addicted to gum?  I seriously can chew like a pack a day.

Alarm Free!!!!

Uncategorized

Ah, it is amazing how much better sleep is without a security alarm going off every 40 minutes!

Woke up to another beautiful morning and had a green monster:

Yum.  Is it just me or do these just make me feel better?  I always seem to have a better day when I start it with a GM!

St Pattys recap:  Green food!

Lunch started with the best salsa ever!  As a two-year honorary Texan I would like to think I know my salsa, and this stuff is top of the line!  (For locals, it is available at Central Market!).

Salad with veggies and green salsa!

Sammie on multi-grain bread with Laughing Cow, mushrooms, tomato, spinach, and salsa

This sandwich was amazing, plain and simple.

My friends called me about 1:30 and told me they were on the Tipsy Clover’s patio drinking green beer.  I headed over.

No green beer for me.  With running two half marathons this weekend, I am being really careful about hydration.  I did enjoy a nice glass of green water and a pizza roll.  ( I also picked up some major tan lines!  Houston sun is already in full power!)

When the hubby got home from work he and Trooper walked down,

Aren’t my boys the cutest!  The great thing about a lot of the Midtown bars is that they allow doggies outside on their patios.  Trooper was a hit!

Family photo.  I had my sweater on by this time to prevent my farmer’s tan from getting worse.

Trooper sporting the green Budweiser hat.

After the bar we headed home for a quick relax and dinner:

I wasn’t very hungry after my pizza roll, so I just made another salad.  More green!  St Pattys definitely helped me meet my veggie quota yesterday!

After that we hit the park and did a quick 3 miles.

Did you have some green beer or green food?

Celebrating with a GM

Uncategorized

Happy St Patty’s Day bloggers.  I am almost positive there isn’t an ounce of Irish in me, so I don’t feel too bad that I never really celebrate-plus the color green looks awful on me!

In the spirit, I did start my morning with a GM.

I had planned on going out and drinking lots of green beer tonight, but after no sleep last night I am not sure I will make it.  The alarm system in our apartment went off randomly all night–and I mean all night.  We have never activated the alarm, thus having no disarm code.  Basically, we got up every time pushed a lot of buttons, opened and closed doors, and eventually it would turn off.  40 mins later the alarm was ringing again.  I feel bad for our neighbors.  I got online at like 4 am to put in a maintenance request.  Hopefully they come soon!

Good morning rain

Uncategorized

I woke up to rain this morning. Lovely.  Just when I thought the weather could be making a change for the better.  I will get over it, as long as this rain business gets over with before my mom visits!

The last of the GMs…for awhile at least.  I finished up my HUGE thing of fresh spinach.  I have really enjoyed having a GM for breakfast every morning and my stomach even feels better than normal.  I might just have to buy some  more spinach.

Today is a speed interval day, but I haven’t decided whether or not the leg can handle that.  I don’t want to push too fast, too soon.  Instead I slept in a bit and then did 35 minutes of strength while watching Buffy.  I might hop on my stationary bike before class to burn off some of the unpictured snack fest that was my Sunday night.

Anyone else seriously in need of Spring?

I am getting very burned out with school and need some nice weather to cheer me up!

Crunch Time

Uncategorized

Well bloggies, I am skipping my classes this beautiful Friday to study all day for the MPRE.  Basically I haven’t even looked at my book and the test is tomorrow.  I am clearly responsible.

Skipping class= me sleeping in until 8!!!!!!  That has not happened in months!  I woke up and made a monsterous GM.

Usually, the hubby takes what won’t fit in my cup but since he was already at work I made a little SIAB!!!  I got this idea from KERF.

My GM was extra green today.  I am really trying to use up all this spinach before it goes bad.

Today’s GM

1/2 cup soy milk

1/2 cup water

1/2 scoop vanilla protein

3/4 cup frozen blue berries

1/2 large frozen banana

cinnamon, dash of vanilla extract

YUM

Let me rewind to Thursday’s whirlwind of a day:

I packed this delicious lunch.  Large portion of butternut squash, honey mustard tofu, and german chocolate cake bar.

Snack was this bowl of sweet grapes.  I love grapes.  I really think I could sit down and eat 5 pounds of grapes in one sitting.

I really don’t know how I survived packing my lunch before my Stay Fit containers.  They make lunch much  easier.  These containers are made by Fit N Fresh.  I actually picked up my lunch holder and snack containers at Walmart, you can check out one of their package deals here.

Enough about my lunch, lets move on to dinner…

First, my hubby wanted to show you all that a) he ate salad and b) he made this himself.  It has BBQ brisket, mushrooms, onions, cheese, black pepper.  I was proud of him!

He was still jealous of my salad.  I informed him that I was the salad expert.  My salad included plum slices, butternut squash, onion, mushrooms, black beans, and Parmesan.

On the side a piece of toast with hummus.

Anyone have exciting plans for this weekend?

I have my MPRE exam tomorrow, then I plan on relaxing, and (cross your fingers) getting back on training schedule!
