July Daily Challenge

Uncategorized

Good morning and Happy July!  Can you believe it?  I sure can’t especially since I have a paper due that I have not even begun to write (Oops!)

I usually set out 3 goals for myself at the beginning of each month.  June was a very unsuccessful month because I have been in such a funk lately.  But with a new month, I get a new start.

July Daily Challenge

How it works: Every day I will post a small daily challenge.  Complete the challenge and leave a comment telling me that you did it/how it went/etc.  At the end of the month you will get one entry for every comment you left, aka every day you completed the challenge.

What the winner gets: At the end of the month I will put all the entries (hopefully a lot) into Random.org and a winner will be chosen.  Although I have not completed the prize package yet I can give you a little preview…

June Goal Time

Uncategorized

I cannot believe it is already June!  This year is flying by me!  As with all new months I like to set up a month challenge that includes reasonable, attainable goals.  First, it is time to see how I did on my May Challenge :

  • Stop eating crap that is bad for my body. I give myself a C on this challenge.  I incorporated way more fresh fruits but didn’t take out any crap.  Salty snacks hold me back.
  • Shape-up, tone-up. I added both interval and strength training.  I am following the Insanity workout (although I usually take an extra day off so I can bike) and have made sure to add in at least two days of weight work a week.  No six pack abs yet…probably due to mediocre performance above.
  • Read a book for fun. Done.  Call me a tween but I ended up reading Eclipse from the Twilight saga.  It was an easy read so I could do it in a day.  It was actually pretty good, but [Skip ahead if you haven't read book] she ends up picking Edward and I am on Team Jacob (who wouldn’t be?).  Anyway I googled to find out what happens in the last book and it seems kind of ridiculous so I am done with the Twilight fad.

Now time for June’s Challenge:

  • Get a glimpse of my abs. The only reason I don’t have the abs I want is because I like to eat a lot of crap.  I pretty much always have my hand in a cracker box  and dessert is usually the rule rather than the exception.  I have heard it a million times and read it again in the Eat Clean Diet book someone gave me:  how you look is 80% nutrition.  Since I got a C on May’s goal (and a C is never acceptable for this girl’s Type A personality) I am going to set this goal again.  Stop eating the crap.  See the abs I work for.
  • Cook a meal. Although there is nothing wrong with throwing whatever you have got onto a salad or in a wrap, I need to stop being lazy and cook up some new stuff.  I am sure the hubby would be happy to enjoy the results.  I am going to go through the cookbooks and try to cook up something once a week.
  • Tackle my research early. I signed up for my writing requirement course this summer and my paper is due July 13th.  I am the worst at procrastinating on papers!  Ideally I will tackle research/planning first two weeks of June, last two weeks I will write, and July will be editing.  Here is to hoping!

Alright, give it to me:  What are your goals for June?

If you missed it, check out Summer Kickoff Giveaway!  You can have up to 3 entries!

May Day Challenge

Uncategorized

So…I might be a little late on my May Challenge post, but that is life.  (Let me apologize ahead of time for any grammatical errors or downright nonsense because my brain is full right now).

Time to review last month’s challenge:

  • 30 minutes of cardio 6 days a week.  No excuses. I did okay on this goal.  I got in at least a 30 Day Shred level 4-5 days a week.
  • Cut down the mindless snacking. FAIL.  Total and complete failure.  Basically all I have done is mindlessly snack, eat dessert, and eat packaged crap.  It has taken its toll, trust me.
  • Spend time with my boys. I have done okay on this one as well.  The last week of April was a total mess given my mental and emotional state, but we are all past it.

May Day Challenge:

With May comes another year on the ol’ calendar for me, here I come mid-twenties!  I have a lot of things I want to accomplish this month after sucking at life during April.  So here goes:

  • Stop eating crap that is bad for my body. I use finals as an excuse, and they are a pretty good excuse, but I have put on quite a few pounds the last month due to terrible eating habits.  My stomach is also constantly upset-unpleasant, and my bikini-ready abs aren’t ready.    [Tip from The Fitnessita:  Remember that healthy eating has so much to do with fitness and weight loss improvement—what we look like is 80% nutrition, 10% working out, and 10% genetics. Pair every fitness routine with clean and healthy eats]
  • Shape-up, tone up. This blog girl will never, ever have 6pack fitness model abs.  It is a fact of life.  Everyone in my family has teeny-tiny chicken legs and holds their weight around the middle.  Since I won’t count every carb, calorie, and fat gram that goes into my body I need to make an effort to eat better and maximize my workouts.  My goal is to add interval and strength training in order to get my body bikini ready.
  • Read a book for fun. Before law school I was one of those people who looked forward to breaks simply because I could read all the books I wanted to instead of assigned books.  I would literally stockpile all the things I wanted to read just waiting for classes to be over.  Law school has made me resent reading…a lot.  I would like to read a book for pure enjoyment this month and remember why it was I liked reading so much in the first place.

Alright hit me with your best shot….I mean, hit me with your May goals.
