Alarm Free!!!!

Uncategorized

Ah, it is amazing how much better sleep is without a security alarm going off every 40 minutes!

Woke up to another beautiful morning and had a green monster:

Yum.  Is it just me or do these just make me feel better?  I always seem to have a better day when I start it with a GM!

St Pattys recap:  Green food!

Lunch started with the best salsa ever!  As a two-year honorary Texan I would like to think I know my salsa, and this stuff is top of the line!  (For locals, it is available at Central Market!).

Salad with veggies and green salsa!

Sammie on multi-grain bread with Laughing Cow, mushrooms, tomato, spinach, and salsa

This sandwich was amazing, plain and simple.

My friends called me about 1:30 and told me they were on the Tipsy Clover’s patio drinking green beer.  I headed over.

No green beer for me.  With running two half marathons this weekend, I am being really careful about hydration.  I did enjoy a nice glass of green water and a pizza roll.  ( I also picked up some major tan lines!  Houston sun is already in full power!)

When the hubby got home from work he and Trooper walked down,

Aren’t my boys the cutest!  The great thing about a lot of the Midtown bars is that they allow doggies outside on their patios.  Trooper was a hit!

Family photo.  I had my sweater on by this time to prevent my farmer’s tan from getting worse.

After the bar we headed home for a quick relax and dinner:

I wasn’t very hungry after my pizza roll, so I just made another salad.  More green!  St Pattys definitely helped me meet my veggie quota yesterday!

After that we hit the park and did a quick 3 miles.

Did you have some green beer or green food?

Friday! Woo!

Uncategorized

Yes folks, it is FINALLY Friday!  Is it just me or has this week been a killer?  My plans this weekend consist of running, running, oh and more running.  I am going to catch up on at least an hour and half of missed runs this weekend, run my planned 2 hour on Sunday, then light workouts until Thursday.

My breakfast did not photograph well this morning so I am going to skip it and get right to down to a birthday dinner recap:

First, those famous blue margaritas!  I didn’t enjoy one since I am working really hard to stay hydrated and balanced until my race.

Chips and salsa!  The chips were still warm and yummy!  Lucky for me our basket was broken up a lot, so I got to eat lots of little pieces with salsa.  The salsa was a little too thin for my tastes, but good nonetheless.

I ordered the shrimp tacos with a side of rice and cilantro sauce.  Is it me or is this picture kind of blurry?  Anyway, it was delicious!  I ate one of my tacos and a good portion of my rice all drizzled in the cilantro sauce.

My hubby ordered the seafood enchiladas.  He has had them before and they were just as yummy this time.  I stole a few bites and then scooped up most of his tomato/guac mixture with a few chips.  I usually don’t care for enchiladas because of the sauce, but this green sauce is amazing!

Then the birthday girl got sang to and blew out the candle.  I always try to bring my friends a piece of cake on their birthdays and tape a candle to it.  (Sometimes a Twinkie has been given in place of cake, got to make do)

All of us ladies together!  Somehow in all of my pictures Char and I are looking one direction and Christy and Jennifer are looking the other direction?  Anyway, it was a fun dinner and I hope Christy had a great birthday!

My legs are a little sore from riding the bike yesterday morning (not enough cross training), so instead of hitting the treadmill I am going to do my strength training that I always skip out on!

Go RED for Women-Wear Red today, Friday February 5th, to support heart disease awareness for women!

What are your plans for Friday night?

I am hoping for good weather so I can RUN!

Random Grocery Goods

Uncategorized

Does anyone stop at the grocery store for one thing and come out with like 15 other random items?  Because I do, every time!

First random purchase:

Trooper treats!  Doggie ice cream!

Licking his chips just thinking about it!

Yum, Yum, Yum!  And yes, I let my dog eat ice cream for dinner.

Next random item:

Jelly Belly Cold Stone Creamery flavor mix, the strawberry blondie was by far the best flavor, with apple pie a la mode a close second!

Last random item:

Sourdough Nibblers.  Many servings were eaten last night.  Heck I actually opened the bag in the car on the way home.

Dinner was a quick quesadilla made with some of my mom’s homemade salsa:

So chunky, just the way I like it.  It was a bit too sweet for me.  Mom, did you add sugar or something?

After random snacking all last night I still woke up this morning starving!  (Probably that 5 mile run last night!)

Waffles…er, scratch that…pancakes!

Whole wheat pancake mix.  I made it according to waffle directions.

I am too impatient and didn’t let this warm enough or cook long enough, so they came out in pieces.  I decided to throw down some pancakes while I worked to fix my mess.

Success.

The extra large pancakes are for the hubby!

Yes, that pancake takes up almost the whole plate, and my hubby ate two of them!

I had one waffle and one pancake topped with cinnamon, banana, plain greek yogurt, and a little agave.  YUM!  YUM AGAIN!  These were soooo good!

While I made pancakes the hubby made some of a our new coffee.  We picked this up at the opening of One Green Street.

Now time to run some errands.  It got cold overnight!  We woke up to about 34 degrees!  And I had just packed up my boots and sweaters and put them in storage closet, time to unpack again!

Enjoy the weekend!
